Development

– Wacotech GmbH & Co. KG founded by twin brothers and mechanical engineers Achim and Oliver Kehl. Development of a new manufacturing process for plastic honeycombs based on a weaving/welding process for plastic foils. Three patents issued, with one filed internationally. Development of the world’s first fully automated process for producing plastic honeycombs.

– New honeycomb structures used in the area of transparent insulation material (TIM) for solar panels, solar facades and rooflights for industrial buildings. TIMax® brand name registered for unparalleled low-cost translucent heat insulation.

– Development of honeycomb structures with high structural strength for composite applications. WaveCore® brand name registered. Honeycomb structures used in structural panels, lightweight rigid panels for furniture applications, composite honeycomb elements in all areas where high strength/rigidity and a lightweight construction are required.

– Relocation to new premises in Bielefeld. Development of new translucent/light-scattering materials based on glass fibre fabrics (TIMax® GL). Development of a new adhesive technology to bond WaveCore® honeycomb structures to transparent or translucent layers. Creation of the new ViewPan® product range for architecture/design applications.

– Expansion of the business premises in Bielefeld. Further development of the ViewPan® product range into completed systems with edge processing, connecting elements and frames. New applications for translucent partitions, office partition walls, illuminated ceilings, doors/sliding doors.

– Foundation of Wacosystems GmbH & Co. KG. Splitting of the two product groups, with transparent heat insulation becoming a division of Wacotech, and honeycomb technology with the ViewPan® panels and WaveCore® product group becoming a division of Wacosystems.

– Construction of new company premises in Herford begins. The new production and office building offers 2000m² production area and 200m² office space. Area for a show room is included and many Wacotech and Wacosystems products are installed in the façade and office space of the new facility.

– Relocation to new premises in Herford.
